After Japan implemented the new 4K and 8K satellite broadcasting in December 2018, the country is also moving towards 8K broadcasting, and the industry’s demand for high-definition lenses is increasing. Fuji has recently announced the development of two broadcast-grade zoom lenses FUJINON HP66x15.2-ESM and FUJINON HP12x7.6ERD-S9 that can shoot 8K movies, claiming to be the products with the highest zoom ratio, longest focal length, and widest focal length range among 8K lenses. The two lenses will be released this summer and autumn respectively.
According to Fuji Data, the focal length of the portable zoom lens model HP12x7.6 ranges from 7.6mm to 91mm, which can provide an ultra-wide shooting angle of view and be able to shoot the entire sports field or concert venue. The lens has a nine-blade aperture, which makes it easy to integrate the bokeh into the picture naturally. It can be used in conjunction with the focal length controller FUJINON EPD-51A-D02/F03 to achieve precise focusing. It is especially suitable for live sports reports, documentary filming, TV commercial production, etc. .
The boxed zoom lens HP66x15.2 has a focal length ranging from 15.2mm to a maximum focal length of 1000mm, and provides a zoom ratio of 66 times, which is currently the “world’s best” among similar 8K lenses.
Lenses capable of shooting 8K images have been introduced one after another, but the popularity of high-definition playback devices such as 8K TVs is much slower than the speed of the introduction of shooting products. However, 8K playback devices have not yet become popular, and the impact on viewers may not be visible in the short term.
